Howdy folks! I think it is so important as you’re going through the writing process that you stay reading and learning from the best.  These are a few of the books that I’ve read / been reading over the past month. Comment below with some of your favorites that help get the creative spirit flowing!

Ken Liu–The Paper Menagerie

MUST READ IF: You like Fantasy and Sci-Fi. This anthology has mind-bending plots and ideas. It’s full of fantastic worlds. Every story is better than the last, with my personal favorite, All the Flavors.

Gabriela Pereira–DIY MFA

MUST READ IF: You need a plan to become a better writer. I wish that I could back in time and do an MFA, so I bought this book. It had great reviews, and I’m really liking it.  She has built a multi-faceted program for those wishing to learn the craft.

Great Expectations–Charles Dickens

MUST READ IF: You want to learn from the master himself, and how to develop a dynamic protagonist. I love how Dickens builds his world, the characters are so incredibly real, and I can’t seem to put this one down. Just awesome.
